Romania facts: The word «dor» (to miss someone) does not have a synonym in any other language and describes a unique feeling.
The beauty of the Romanian language, through its words, is unique, showing multiples feelings that a person can feel. This word doesn’t find its equivalent ad litteram in any other language, therefore in English the word «dor» means longing, in French means desir or desirer, in German we have dürsten or fletend, in Italian there is ardente or desideraso adrente, in Spanish anoranta, morrina, nostalgia. So as you can see the word «dor» doesn’t have an ad literam equivalent like in Romanian language. For us, it is a highly charged emotional-sentimental-nostalgic feeling and it represents a state of mind for a person.
