Day 1 : 24th of October | Arrival – Bucharest City Tour

If you arrive in Romania for the first time, the first city to greet you is Bucharest. The atmosphere will be quite similar to many other capitals: new buildings, historical monuments and the hustle-bustle of a restless city. It’s here that your journey to another world starts, one populated by vampires, mythical creatures and weird phenomena that failed to get an explanation on Discovery channel.

Only a few kilometers away from Bucharest we’ll reach a charmed islet in the middle of a lake, with a small chapel inhabited by only one monk. The former church is now in the depths, covered by waters, and people say that on stormy days its sunken bell can be heard tolling.

The evening is devoted to the old historical center; the narrow streets nowadays filled with stylish bistros and cafés used to be witnesses of public trials whose merciless judge was the Wallachian prince Vlad the Impaler (Romanian Vlad Ţepes), Dracula himself. Your Halloween in Transylvania begins with a dinner at the restaurant. Must. Not. Include. Garlic.

Overnight in Bucharest.

Day 2 : 25th of October | Bucharest – Sibiu

After breakfast, we head out to Sibiu following the former trade routes taken hundreds of years ago by armies, caravans or fugitives and visit the old town with its large and picturesque square, and learn the secrets guarded by the city walls and the catacombs underneath.

This journey will take you through a place where nature has managed to stay wild and fascinating. The Olt Valley is one of the most beautiful and conserved places in Romania, offering spectacular views to everyone who passes through its gorges.

The city tour in Sibiu will include the old town whose attraction is the main Square sheltering the Brukenthal Museum and the Roman Catholic Cathedral, and it continues with Huet Square where we’ll visit the Evangelical Church.

Afterward, we’ll go through the passage of stairs and cross the famous Bridge of Lies.

Overnight in Sibiu.

Day 3 : 26th of October | Sibiu – Hunedoara – Turda

After breakfast we continue our journey through the region of Transylvania which has yet secrets to reveal, making your Halloween quite unforgettable.
Today’s attraction is Corvin gothic castle whose visitors never forget it. Several international publications have included it among the most impressive castles in the world. To top it up, Corvin Castle might also feature in a top of awe-inspiring, haunted places. It’s your first night in Transylvania!

Our journey takes us to Turda where we will visit a spectacular and quite unique site, due to its strange form. The salt mine consist of a huge subterranean cave carved in salt with hundreds of meters of galleries which open into halls. The biggest one is 90 meters tall and it has a lake at the bottom. The sights inside are otherworldly, attracting artists in search of spectacular views.

Overnight in Turda.

Day 4 : 27th of October | Turda - Biertan – Sighisoara – Bran

Today we’ll visit Biertan where we visit the famous fortified church dating back to the Middle Ages, whose bleak image inspired many novelists. Around mid-day we’ll get to a place where history mingles with everyday life: Sighisoara is one of the few European fortresses still inhabited. You’ll climb in the old tower, going up the same stairs as the former prisoners on their way to cells where they wouldn’t see daylight again.

Sighisoara is closely related to the origins of prince Vlad, without whom Dracula’s legend would have never existed. We’ll pay a visit to the house where Vlad Dracul was born; nowadays turned into a pub and restaurant, the legend-filled house is very popular among a certain audience.

Our next stop is Bran, the place where all the magic happens.

Overnight in Bran.

Day 5 : 28th of October | Bran - Brasov City Tour – Dracula Castle (Halloween Party) – Bran

After having a healthy breakfast, we begin our day driving to the beautiful Brasov, where the Middle Age atmosphere is captured by the famous Gothic cathedral, the largest in Southeastern Europe, also called the Black Church.

After a nice walk in the city center, we will go to the restaurant, where you will have a traditional lunch.

The most beautiful and yet the most unsettling stories that weren’t enclosed in the pages of any book are those whose characters are simple, ordinary people who come from unreal times.

In the evening you have the unique chance to visit Bran Castle, the castle of count Dracula, lit by candlelight. Ielele, a kind of evil fairies present in the Romanian folklore will certainly try to lure you into the world beyond…

The red wine, black vodka, and the evil fairies, these are some of the ingredients that will make your Halloween night amazing.

Count Dracula will be your good host until past midnight, when he will invite you to his private party, in a tent placed in the Royal Park.

Overnight in Bran.

Day 6 : 29th of October | Bran – Campfire

After the Halloween Party, today is the day when everyone will relax. We will all sleep late and rest, and you will have the day at your disposal. In the evening we will have a campfire and a tasty dinner with fresh local products, in a traditional atmosphere.

Overnight in Bran.

Day 7 : 30th of October | Bucharest - Departure

On our last day, we will drive through the Prahova Valley and reach Sinaia, where you will visit the remarkable Peles Castle, built in the 19th century, according to the specifications of King Carol I, with the purpose of being the royal family’s summer residence. This is the place where Ceausescu couple wanted to move to, but the two have been fooled that in the castle is a deadly fungus that could threaten their life. This is obviously not true, but they believed it.

After a great tour and a party at the castle, your Halloween holidays has come to an end, but the story will be continued.
