Day 1 : Arrival in Iasi


The first day will be dedicated to the arrival arrangements and the first contact with the city of Iași. It is a cultural city with a high population of young students, also a former capital of the Moldavian state.

The day will feature a pleasant ”Essential Iași” walking tour around the city center, including the Palace of Culture – the neogothic symbol building of the city, Three Hierarchs Church –  an early Renaissance Moldavian church (1639) featuring unique oriental sandstone carved patterns, National Theater (1898) – a neoclassical & baroque building designed by famous Viennese architects, chosen by BBC as top ”7 World Theaters that take your breath away”, Metropolitan Cathedral of Moldavia (1830) – the biggest orthodox church in Italian Renaissance style, a pilgrimage site for Eastern Europeans, Union Square – a flourishing plaza redesigned in Communist era.

Day 2 : Full day Iasi


You will experience a great Jewish Heritage walking tour in Iași featuring former commercial Jewish streets, places of dark memory of the Second World War, former Târgu Cucu” Jewish district, the Great Synagogue – the oldest in the country (1672), the newly restored ”Apple Sellers’ Synagogue” and the little Museum of the Jewish Community.

After eating at the Kosher local restaurant, the second part of the day will be dedicated to the symbol of the city: The Palace of Culture. This wonderful flamboyant neo-gothic piece of architecture re-designed in 1926 (on previous court dating from 1434) features 5-Museums in 1 in a romantic royal atmosphere – Arts (Painting gallery of famous painters of Romania), History (a travel back in Moldavia’s medieval and Renaissance times), Folk art (traditional costumes and customs of the region), Science and Technics (the country’s greatest collection of old music boxes), Tower Museum (a visit in the Palace’s attic and keep where you will experience an 8-bell old-style carillon mechanic melody at every fix hour along with a stunning view over the city).

Day 3 : Iasi – Roman – Piatra Neamt – Agapia


This day will be dedicated to the remembrance of Jewish communities across the region. After a short visit to the neogothic landlord Palace of Miclăușeni, the Leipziger synagogue in Roman (1850) will reveal the stories of the Ashkenazi merchants famous for their goods imported from Leipzig, Germany.

The ”Baal Sem Tovwooden synagogue (1766) in Piatra Neamț (at the foot of Carpathian Mountains) will be a unique experience. The city also has an attractive central plaza and a sightseeing cable gondola. Before dinner, you can also do a short walk into the famous orthodox Agapia monastery.

Day 4 : Agapia - Tarpesti - Falticeni - Gura Humorului


You will experience “Nicolae Popa” Folk art museum in Târpești, featuring an impressive collection of festival masks and traditional costumes, including biblical and Judaic references.

If you wish to immerse more in the typical idyllic rural life of the region we have prepared a visit to locals, to better understand the way they truly live. The “Fălticeni synagogue” (1852) will be a nice surprise for your eyes, hidden beyond communist building blocks but revealing an inner majestic appearance, with its impressive large hall and paintings of Eretz Israel.

Day 5 : Gura Humorului - Cacica - Radauti - Marginea - Sucevita - Moldovita - Gura Humorului


This day will be far more diverse and busy.  Cacica salt mine is one of the 7 unique handcrafted salt mines in Romania dating back to the 18th century, located in a catholic Polish community, featuring praying chapels, an artificial lake, a ballroom and a sports room.

The Great Temple in Radauti (1883) will be a pleasure for your eyes, an impressive historical building in a Moorish style, with two large round towers making it similar to an Orthodox cathedral. The arcades and the massive columns, as well as the mixture of baroque and renaissance interior, makes it a pleasant attraction. Our stop at Marginea Pottery Workshop will reveal the technique of handcrafting traditional black ceramics but you will also be able to admire and buy painted eggs with traditional patterns as well as typical blouses. The visits at Sucevița (1581) and Moldovița (1532) UNESCO painted Monasteries will definitely be an immersion into the medieval Byzantine art and monastic life.

Day 6 : Gura Humorului - Suceava - Botosani


The day starts with a beautiful surprise: Voroneț Monastery or the ”Sistine Chapel of the East” features an impressive outside-painted UNESCO church dating back in 1488, featuring an impressive Last Judgement painting where Old and New Testament display Biblical figures and Christian precepts about the consequences of our actions.

Suceava Folk Art Museum will offer you a green walk through typical houses of the Northern Moldavia, next to the view of the Medieval Fortress (1395). At the end of the day, you will meet a small community of Jewish in Botoșani, at the blue painted ”Hoihe Sili” synagogue (1834).

Day 7 : Botosani - Cotnari - Iasi


You will observe Neolithic art at Botoșani County Museum, famous for its painted pottery in a spiral pattern, anthropomorphic figurines and ancient culture.

An Optional trip to Dorohoi Jewish Community and Synagogue may be also organized for you. The Wine Tasting at Cotnari will be the highlight of the day, as local vines such as Fetească Albă or Tămâioasă Românească will awaken your palate senses. After lunch, you will have a more relaxing day in Iași city center order to buy some presents and to enjoy the evening quiet atmosphere of the last day.

Day 8 : Departure to Tel Aviv

Breakfast and early morning Departure to Tel Aviv.
