Imagine my surprise when I saw women coming from church dressed in traditional suites. I was surprised, I didn’t know how to make them a picture without making them feel unconformable. My whole experience, along with my husband was unimaginable. I heard friends, people I know that went to Romania a long time ago that it’s something unique and I couldn’t imagine until I visited it.
What I liked the most was Maramures. We went in June 2014. People were all so natural, they have the same old way of life, which exists in a few places in the world. From what I understand from our guide, in Maramures people still do things like in the old time, the peasants still cut hay with scythes, wash clothes in the rivers, travel in horse carts and wear homemade leather shoes.
Our guide was well informed, friendly and helpful, we had great scenery, saw a lot of impressive and different castles, churches from Bucovina, beautiful cities. Good value for money!
I took this tour in March 2014 and I recommend it to anyone who decides to visit the traditional and natural Romania. We had a professional guide and great atmosphere on the whole tour. Great balance between the two areas we visited: Maramures with all the traditions and inspiring people and Bucovina with all the painted churches, where I felt the peaceful atmosphere; it’s a little piece of Heaven.
Very informative tour guide and very emotional due to the visit at the Memorial of the Victims of Communism. Well worth the trip.
